"The Possession" (2012)- Review

Image
"Daddy, you're scaring me!" That one scene in the movie was killa hilarious as heck! I felt like I was watching THE BRIDE/THE SEED OF CHUCKY for the simple reason is that some parts in the movie were funny to me because of how the priest who was trying to perform the exorcism was acting or how nuts the mother played by Sedgwick was acting in a particular scene with her daughter on a "fridge rampage." People in the theater were saying the same phrases that you would expect them to say in any horror film like: "don't go in there", "why are you walking towards her?", "you crazy", or my favorite--"you betta get yo a** away from that psycho girl!" I have to admit that when I hear these common phrases during a horror film, it really makes the movie more enjoyable. The little quirks and comments are funny because if you were placed in that situation, you would be acting the same way. We all know not to run towards danger, …

"Lawless"(2012)- Review

I was hesitant in seeing this film, but luckily, I had a friend who works at the movie theater & got me free tix for it and I really enjoyed it. It was not a boring movie like JONAH HEX or COWBOYS AND ALIENS! It was not a full 100% country-western movie as I thought it would be, it was sort of a gangster, power/dominate relations film. No matter how many period movies I see, I always notice the separation of the races and it always makes me reflect on how far society has come. Gary Pearce really played his role and he CAPTURED the screen, but his character really was over the top and was pissing me off! Lol! He did a damn excellent job at portraying his character because I was wanting to beat his butt and just kill himself on screen. I was very highly impressed with it. The tone of the film was on point & there was action in almost every scene. There were a few times where I thought certain characters were going to die and there was one a certain character where his fate was p…

"The Apparition" (2012)- Review

Damn! There is another horror film that has nothing-not even the horror! I did not scream or jump at all. I just feel numb. Another loss and I want a refund. I wanted to walk out of the movie at so many times, but things happened that led me to believe that the movie was going to pick up the momentum, but it didn't. Ashley Greene really had the good "scared and terrified" look down. I'll give her that, but this movie as a whole was pathetic! Do NOT NOT NOT waste your good 1hour and 22 minutes seeing this movie. Please, I beg of you! SAVE your MONEY and YOUR TIME! I really, as always thought that this would--finally be a horror film with the horror. It just seems like no Director or screenwriter can make a good and solid horror film this day in age. Truly, I wonder why WB bought this film-it could not have been for the story-line it had to have been because of the Twilight actress Ashley Greene. The killer was mysterious the entire time just like in "The Mist&quo…

"Premium Rush" (2012)- Review

People may not agree with my rating on this very short film, but I apologize. As short as it was and it was a weak story-line-besides those two things. I loved the hell out of this movie. It seemed to be the first film that I have ever seen that was in fact, interactive. By that, I mean, when JGL would punch in addresses in his cell phone to map out directions, it would literally zoom into his cell on the movie screen and map out the directions and give alternate routes! I was very and highly impressed with that! The next is that once JGL would reach a busy intersection in NY (which is almost 24/7), everything including him would shift to slow motion and he would literally have visions and the movie showed his "premonitions" of which way was best to cross the intersection. If he took this route this would happen, and so on and so fourth and that was the second thing that was interactive and very awesome to me for the simple reason is that the director is thinking outside t…

"Hit and Run" (2012)- Review

For this to be such an cheaply-budgeted film, it was downright hilarious as hell! I have to tell you the truth. The tagline to this movie is: "a comedy that never takes its foot off the gas." That is a TRUE statement! I have no idea where to even begin about all the funny and totally hysterical parts in the movie without ruining it for you! An absolutely funny movie FROM START 2 FINISH! The small parts that Chenoweth was in, she was too kicks! Cooper was so great towards the end when he was talking about what had happened to him in prison, and Shepard is just a funny man all together so you can imagine how he was all throughout the film. Now, we get to Tom Arnold-that man...in this movie...he CAPTURED the screen in his performances in ANY and EVERY scene! After you see what type of character Arnold plays for the first 25-30 minutes of the movie, the entire audience will laugh as soon as he appears in any other scene-trust me, you have to remember what I have just said about…

"Sparkle" (2012)- Review

Let it SPARKLE Mz. Sparkle! The two songs that I loved in this movie was "Jump" & "One Wing." The dance moves by Sister and her Sisters were were very provocative & could grab anyone's attention. Whitney Houston should have sung more songs in the movie, I felt and I also felt that she could have been seen in more than a few scenes here and there. In the beginning of the film, the looks that she gave was very funny to Stix. Lol! It made me chuckle. The actress who gave the performance of a lifetime was that of Carmen Ejogo. She was the actress to capture the screen. I am not sure if she was the lead actress, but she was the lead sister and the one in charge during the entire film. When Houston was singing that one church song, I took a deep breath and just remembered her life and all the movies that I had seen with her in them. I still cannot believe that she is gone. Her memory will live on forever and ever. Mike Epps and Carmen Ejogo's love turned…

"The Expendables 2" (2012)- Review

Image
When they say THE EXPENDABLES are back for war-hot damn, do they mean just that. It was not a war, but more of a vile, hostile, cruel, gory bloodbath! This sequel was AMAZING! I do not know what word or words I can use that means awesome in the highest degree! There was so much gory action and killing, I had to cringe a few times because it was so unbelievable! To have STALLONE and SCHWARZENEGGER and WILLIS shooting guns all together in one scene seems like a big action-packed killing spree reunion. It was cool to see Arnold on the big screen again after so many years and he did a good job and looked like nothing had changed about his acting esp. when it came to guns and fighting, Lol! The introduction of Norris & Jean-Claude was okay. Norris had a little part in the film whereas the villain was Jean-Claude and he looked terrible. He has aged badly. There were a few quirks made about Arnold when certain actors said phrases like "i'll be back" or "you're term…

"Hope Springs" (2012)- Review

Image
Very entertaining! But on the flip side, the majority of the film was rather depressing for the simple fact was that it was about a married couple who had the SAME DAILY routine, NEVER communicated with each other, and who had not been intimate for quite some time and NEVER did anything new to spice things up in their marriage and who slept in SEPARATE bedrooms. I got depressed just writing that last statement! Tommy Lee Jones was very hilarious with his quirks and flippant remarks. I could not get enough of that and Meryl Streep was, as usual, 100% perfection performance! There was not one flaw with Streep, but SEVERAL with her character. There was one part in the movie where Dr. Feld asked Kay how comfortable was she with oral sex; giving or receiving and her response and her look when she said it, I guarantee you that you will laugh out of your seat and the entire theater will join in with you. The sexual things that are discussed in the therapy sessions is where most of the humor …

"The Campaign" (2012)- Review

Image
First off, this movie was too damn good to be a short 1 hour and 25 minutes. So much was edited out that it is not even funny! I had a FEATURED ROLE in the movie in the courtroom scene in the beginning of the movie wearing the black sweater vest and long-sleeved blue dress shirt. I had to take papers from Galifianakis when he announces his candidacy against Ferrell. The movie really would have been Rx-rated if the girls flashing themselves would have been in it! Lol! It was edited out, I do not understand why though because there were so many sexual references and lewd acts of obscene behavior, the boobs would have fallen right into place! Trust me! It was so odd to see certain scenes that I was a part of in the filming process and then to have them be cut so short to like 20 seconds and filmed it for more than 12 hours! HaHa! All in all, I think that the cast did an outstanding job! Zach is a trip and the Huggins maid, Ms. Yao-oh my gosh, she was kicks the way that she was talking. A…

"The Bourne Legacy" (2012)- Review

Image
When a critic said, "The Bourne Legacy disgraces the family name," that sums up this movie perfectly, in my opinion, I think also. I was reading a lot of NEGATIVE reviews about this movie before I saw it, but almost every film critic has something flippant or rude to say about every movie almost, but this one was head on. I was very disappointed in it. I have NOT read any of the novels, but Renner was just running away and away from the bad guys whereas Damon would have run from them, saved his love, if he had any, and kill. Renner did not kill anyone except maybe 3 or 4 people-other than that, he was fighting the entire 2 hours and 15 minutes. I was dozing to sleep all throughout the movie. Definite bad sign. Damon said that this script was not right for him and that is why he does not make an appearance or stars in the film as he did in the first three Bourne films in the series. I cannot fault him because this movie was awful. I mean the action scenes were not all that …

"Total Recall" (2012)- Review

Image
This movie was nothing like the original and it seemed to be a combination of Starship Troopers, Prometheus, Star Wars, and Lockout. The only good parts of this film was the cat-fight scenes between Biel and Beckinsale in the elevator. The action scenes and the high-speed car chases and the chases that Beckinsale was doing esp. the very first one after Farrell. I would say that if I had to pick between the better "female fighter," I would have to choose Beckinsale-hands down! Kate had that fierce look in her eyes and no matter what action scene she was in even if she was talking to her superior officer, she would look & talk to him like a woman in total control and like she hated him. Her look was on point whereas Biel was average. The way that she fought was merely average and was not as better than Kate's. I feel that Farrell did a good job at his role, but he should not have been the male lead in the movie. He did not deserve that title. His acting was not all th…
