"Cloud Atlas" (2012)- Review

Image
I never really had any sincere intentions on seeing this movie, but I had free passes & that is the only reason I went! I had never heard of this film before in my life and I only saw a preview for it once. That was telling me a lot right there. Reading the synopsis about it sounded MORE interesting than actually sitting through this 3-hour time loop film. I mean, it seems like an extraordinary film with such an all-star cast, but the movie was just hard to follow and to comprehend. I mean, Hanks & Berry really portrayed their roles damn good-I will give the credit where it is due, but you cannot leave this movie to go to the restroom, do not look down at your watch, etc. NOTHING or else you will be left behind in the past, present, or future and will be lost for the duration of the film. This movie seems like one of those psychological movies more than a Sci-Fi/Drma/Romance genre to be perfectly honest with you. Some OF the killing in the film was semi-gory and not the type o…

"Alex Cross" (2012)- Review

The ONLY & I do mean ONLY reason this movie gets a high-class killa rating is because of ONE man & it was NOT Tyler Perry! It goes to Matthew Fox! That dude was...intense...cold....calculating....dangerous...a well-skilled & extreme assassin @ best! Fox's suspense, killing styles, his methods, and his overall character was sensational! I did NOT want to take my eyes off of the screen! Some of the ways in which he killed his targets was nasty and made me cringe, but it was still electrifying to see on screen! The movie should have been named Picasso, which was Fox's character's name. Please do not get me started on Tyler Perry's acting in this movie-I almost feel pity for him taking on a huge role like this in comparison to Jeremy Renner taking on Bourne Legacy. Matt Damon will always be Jason & Morgan Freeman will be Alex Cross. ANYONE else should have, could have, & would have played a better Alex Cross than Perry. My apologies. Perry's facial …

"Here Comes the Boom" (2012)- Review

There were a lot of BOOMS (like surprises and just basic things that made u wanna say wow, ouch, oh, ugh, etc.) and a ton of POWS! This movie had its ups and it had its downs-and it is the equivalent to the movie BAD TEACHER. I would say that this movie was fair and it was not one of Kevin James' best ones he has made, but I did laugh at some of the things he said and did throughout the movie-some of his scenes were funny like LOL funny, whereas others were just, eh. Hayek was very hilarious in EVERY scene that she was in esp. the scene where she says "give momma some Jambalaya!" You will have to see it in order to understand it! TRUST ME! The final UFC scene at the end of the movie, what Hayek does once the fight is complete is utterly funny! Haha! The character playing Niko was a very crazy and wildly humorous guy! He kept me entertained, definitely! The movie started to get more entertaining midway towards the very end. The beginning was funny and slow and from the mi…

"Sinister" (2012)- Review

The filmmakers reveal the best part at the very end and that was the only good part of the entire film. There was, of course, a twist. Thank goodness it had a twist because the movie was like VANTAGE POINT too much! It was very repetitive-it was like Ellison watched a clip, saw a figure, acted weird about it and then his kids acted out and got in an argument with his wife and it is that same thing over and over again! On occasion, there are these sudden images that pop out unexpectedly that you may or may not think is coming-you may jump & then you may not jump; just depending on how easily you get afraid. I was NOT pleased with the movie as I was expecting to be. I just do not think it was average, and it was not awful, although a lady got up as soon as the movie was over and said to us as we were still sitting down in our seats: "Excuse me y'all, I can't take any more of this-this was the worst movie I have ever seen in my life" as she jetted out of the theater…

"The Seven Psychopaths" (2012)- Review

This movie was really equal to all the the "funny" scary movies I felt. Also, I kind of feel like the movie kept straying and not staying on course, it was falling apart and I could not keep up although, it was revealed at the end of the movie why certain things happened the way that they did, because I had a ton of unanswered questions floating around in the back of my head during the film as I was watching it. Woody Harrelson was drop dead hilarious in the film. Him and Christopher Walken made this movie! From the facial expressions to the mannerisms, to the acting, and then topping it off with all of those elements combined-those two really captured the screen. I loved the introduction of the movie and the "seven psychopaths." I was NOT laughing hard during the film, but I was laughing because it never ever ceases to amaze me at how looking dumb or saying a word or two can be very humorous! The rest of the cast did a average job. Colin Farrell was funny too, but…

"Taken 2" (2012)- Review

I was not pleased with the sequel. Maybe they should have stopped at the first one. I must have watched the first one about 8 times in theaters and it was so good and the trailers for this one were awesome and just kickass, but now that the time has arrived to finally watch the sequel, it was just....not good or what I expected...at all! It just felt like I was watching the first film all over again. The first 20 minutes of the film was slow and in my opinion, I think very similar to everything in the first movie and even the same scene where Bryan cooked BBQ for his friends-same meal looked like only they were wearing different clothing. They had on and off action and the action picked up towards the middle of the movie when the mom and dad got kidnapped and even in those parts-the action and suspense was not as good as the first film. There was one scene with Lenny where they had suspense, but it was much needed because at that point and in that scene, I truly had no idea what was g…

"Pitch Perfect" (2012)- Review

WOW! This movie was freakin' aca-perfection! I do NOT think that ANY word in the English dictionary can express how much I LOVED this movie! Everyone did a phenomenal and sensational job! Rebel Wilson & Anna Kendrick MADE this movie and everyone else was just a bonus! Elizabeth Banks had a small part in the film from time-to-time, but she was funny as hell cracking me up when she was in ANY scene! The character of Fat Amy was just....aca-unbelievable! Wilson really has a talent for making people laugh and she is a master at it! I am laughing right now writing this review thinking back on her performance! Lol! Simply fantastic! There was ONE group member that was hard to "hear" and her character is funny but annoying until the end where she finally "lets go." You will KNOW her when you try to "hear" her. I had never seen Anna Kendrick portray a kickass/badass role such as this one, but she looked like she belonged on a rap station/NY hardcore night…
