"Parker" (2013)- Review

Image
I really cannot say that this film did not keep my interest & curiosity; because that it did. It is sort of hard to explain, but in a weird way-it was like certain parts of the film were just okay but just as I was disappointed about that then something “action-packed” happened and it was amazing. I love movies where I cannot see something coming. This part in the film, I was relaxed and calm just enjoying the film and then BAM: something big happens. This movie had some really intense gory fighting scenes in it and that surprised me because I was not expecting the fighting styles/scenes to be as medium-grade gory and intense as they were. That was a major plus. Statham played his role as he ALWAYS does in any badass movie-he was the badass fighting, killing, and screwing a lady or two. Lol! Jennifer Lopez really added a certain flare to the film. Her character wasn't provocative, but more real, feisty, and direct with a hint of humor-something that she is not known for in her…

"Movie 43" (2013)- Review

Image
I don't care what the critics or what anyone says: movie prices are high nowadays but I DEFINITELY got my money's worth in watching this here film! It was so jaw-dropping at some of the references and things that the actors did with or without the help of special effects. It was just too damn funny! This film had me freakin' speechless. I had to stop eating my snacks and drinking my soda because so many things were happening that were just...wow...I cannot put into words how this movie was, literally. It was so damn perfect and funny..that is all that I can say. You just have to experience it for yourself! The movie poster for this film is dead on: the comedy is exposed and it is opened WIDE for you! Everyone did a fantastic job! Out of all of the spoof films that I have seen-this one is by far the BEST BEST BEST ONE ever! Me and my friend David were laughing so hard and so quiet , we had people laughing at us laughing. One lady in the theater saw a certain segment in the…

"The Last Stand" (2013)- Review

Image
The actors truly took their last and final stand in the movie. After all that the town had been through, it had to take a “certain incident” in order for them to come together and demolish someone who was going to do damage to their town 10x as worse than anyone ever could. This is my reasoning for why the film was titles as such. I really disagree strongly with the critics’ reviews of this movie. It had suspense, it had action, it had killing-even though it was gory and it had the PERFECT touch of gory. Not too bloody, not over the top, just right. I was truly impressed by that alone. There were high speed car chases and the car scenes that the main character Cortez was involved in were downright awesome! There were two instances in the film where the killings just left me speechless like, “Woooowww, I never saw it coming like that!” One was with a granny and one was with Johnny Knoxville “getting” someone. Knoxville always has to bring his inner-kid into any film and he did with thi…

"Broken City" (2013)- Review

Image
I was really disappointed in the film to be truthful. The trailer was so phenomenal and with such a great cast: Pepper, Wahlberg, Crowe, and even the sensational Zeta-Jones. The plot summary sounded great reading it on IMDB or talking about it in general. The suspense leading up to the movie was great; in fact, knowing what the film entailed combined with the trailer was great and intriguing, but when it came time for the finished product-I was not impressed-not in the least. I was yawning at parts during the film, there was minimal to no action at all; certain parts were just dull to me and had no meaning to be in the film. I will give credit where it is due-Both Wahlberg and Crowe played their respective parts beautifully. I will give them that. There was a twist with two of the supporting actors in the film and you may think that the main goal in the film is one thing but it completely throws you for a loop and you cannot see it coming what the true crime(s) are in the film and I u…

"A Haunted House" (2013)- Review

Image
I seriously do NOT think that I can rate/put into words how outrageously crude, sexual, and stereotypical this film was! It was all those and so much more! I am telling you that my eyes were bloodshot red form the 24/7 laughter and the laughs coming from the audience only made it that much more entertaining. Marlon really really really did a dynamite job at this spoof film. I could not wait to see it when I had first heard about it! Serious! I am laughing while rating the movie thinking about all the insane things that I saw in this film. I wonder what made Marlon want to do a film like this? I do NOT think that any spoof film in the HISTORY OF SPOOF FILMS WILL TOP THIS MOVIE! I cannot even go on and on about it because I will be saying the same things over & over again! I really feel like this movie was over the top funny! Essence really was entertaining as well. Cedric was cracking me up! He truly is an entertainer! There is nothing that I can say bad about the movie! I loved i…

"Gangster Squad" (2013)- Review

Image
Loved the movie. I've been reading a lot of negative feedback on it, but I have to disagree. There were a few funny quirks in the film along with some very cruel & disturbing gory gangster images but as the movie progressed the somewhat gory imagery had stopped less and less, but that anticipation of how Mickey was going to kill someone was exciting to me. I have got to admit that Sean Penn did an OUTSTANDING job portraying the bad ass mobster-type role and I was thinking about THE GODFATHER because of how Penn was talking like he had cotton balls in his mouth trying to replicate the Godfather to a T. Lol! Emma Stone was NOT right for the role of Grace in this film. She has the look-don't get me wrong, it is, to me-that certain actresses look wrong in certain parts in certain films because they are so young as in their real age & I could not get use to her in this role in this film. She is like a child and not a seductive gangster's girlfriend. Josh Brolin really d…

"Texas Chainsaw Massacre" 3D (2013)- Review

Image
I really was very satisfied with the film. I know that I always tell people that I love bloodbath, intense, and gory-based films-but when it comes time to watch them, I do get freaked out by all the gore and profound nastiness. Lol! That is exactly what happened with my first film of the New Year: THIS MOVIE! I was going in with a 50/50 probability because I was reading a lot of negative reviews about it and then I started hearing good things and expectations and then the show that I saw was completely sold out! I did see it in 3D and I was NOT disappointed-so that was good! The introduction and opening credits rolled out all bloody and in my face. Loved it! Everything wasn’t in 3D, but the parts that NEEDED to be were and that freaked me out because even though 3D is meant to “be really realistic,” it was really REAL because it was just too intense like it was happening to me; so great job on that aspect of the film. The gore was not over the top, the horror was perfect and the maske…
