"Snitch" (2013)- Review

Image
This movie was more than just an action film. At least, not just that to me-it was a story about redemption, sacrifice, devotion, and especially unconditional love that a father or a mother has for their child no matter how much their child may say that they hate them, were never there for them, wishes death upon them, etc. A parent, and Dwayne exhibited that so very well in this film to the actor who played his son in the film that he was determined to go through and to do whatever was unnecessary to protect his son and to clear his name and get him released from prison. I admired a certain scene between Dwayne & Rafi when Dwayne told him that he "taught" him a vital lesson. Children can teach parents lessons. Parents do not have to be right all the time and know the answers. I see it like this: If a child can correct their parent and show them a better way to do something or make mature suggestions that means, to me, that the parents is teaching and raising their child…

"A Good Day To Die Hard" IMAX (2013)- Review

Image
It's a BAD day to see nothing GOOD in this film but the high super-charged killing and bomb explosion sprees. That's about it! I had heard the negative talk surrounding this film when it opened up on Thursday night! I never expected to doze off in a movie such as this one even in IMAX, which I saw it in and I was so disappointed in that! The movie was NOT keeping my full attention. I had to twist and turn in my seat just to force myself to literally stay awake! The budget for this film was $92.0M and so far, it has NOT NOT NOT even reached the halfway mark. To say that this is a great action-packed thrill franchise, I was surprised that the total running time was only 98 minutes and not longer. I cannot say that this movie was worth my money or time. I was completely and utterly disappointed and I have to agree with the movie critics; 100% that this was not the best Die Hard film made. I am literally at a loss for words and feel like I am saying the same thing over and over ag…

"Beautiful Creatures" (2013)- Review

Image
Beautiful creatures are beautiful in this movie! One would think the title of the film suggests the "supernatural" creatures in the film-but I think the characters of Ethan & Lena are the two beautiful creatures. This film reminded me of two other films similar to what the character Lena had to accomplish of a certain age: Beastly & The Covenant. Those two movies combined with this one serves one purpose: Of a certain age-the main character will have to surrender and/or surpass an extreme obstacle in order to live. Live as in be alive and live life. This movie was epic & magical. The love that the two characters shared was something rare & special to them both. There was nothing that was going to brake the connection they obviously had. A bond as strong as theirs; evil or nothing could not come between them. I felt the introduction of Ridley was the climax of the film simply because she proved to be a test for Lena to test her self-control & to see what s…

"Safe Haven" (2013)- Review

Image
Josh Duhamel & Julianne Hough have intense on-screen chemistry in this film! The movie was mesmerizing, deep, emotional, a tear-jerker & it pricks your heart! Valentine's Day was the absolute & only day this film should have opened. I wanted to see it because I am a fan of Josh Duhamel & had the chance to meet him last year! He & Hough really gave flawless and ground-breaking; earth shattering performances that will rock you! I have to find the words that is the equivalent to "damn perfect romantic" movie with a few twists. As a whole, you needed some of the bad in the film to get to the good. The film should have been titled "Alex's Haven." The opening to the movie was sensational. It set the tone for the entire film. The flashback scenes were excellent and as the story unfolded-the flashbacks gave insight into Hough's character. Hough really brought this character to life. She gradually comes from a sheltered little girl to a safe …

"Identity Thief" (2013)- Review

Image
I must have lost 30 or more pounds that McCarthy gained from laughter at this movie! She was unbelievably funny! She is a really talented and hilarious actress/comedian! I kid you not! Both she and Bateman were outstanding in the movie! The two of them both have on-screen chemistry!!! I cannot stop thinking about how much I was laughing at the movie! Bateman was just perfect and so was she. All throughout the movie you never really knew what "the thief's" motives or real identity was. You learn why she stole people's identities and so much more as the plot unfolds, which is very interesting. The opening to the movie was genius because it even had me fooled. Yes, from the start! I have never in my entire life seen a movie; a comedy movie, that is-that was 2 hours long! It was the funniest and best two hours that I have ever laughed so much. This movie is just as funny as spoof movies or Movie 43, but Movie 43 was a tad bit higher on the laughing poll than this one in…

"Side Effects" (2013)- Review

Image
Just three words for YOU: Watch. Side. Effects. Combine those and do the Nike logo: Just do it! Lol! This movie was absolutely wonderful, suspenseful, and immaculate! I felt that Rooney did a phenomenal job at portraying a psycho. During the movie, I was just in complete awe at some of her behaviors and I had to say to myself that she is one crazy b***h! I could not help it. She captured the screen so beautifully with her character; I was in the moment that she was in to say that. There were twists in the movie and things that happened as the movie unraveled that I never in a million lifetimes would ever see happening! Seriously! This movie is FAR from predictable! It had me fooled. I think that this movie should be seen in medical school and in all psychology classes! Lol! I l very much appreciate films that are NOT predictable and keep me guessing because so many are in deed, predictable! In the final scene with Rooney and Tatum, I was like, “No, she did this?” Sort of saw that com…

"Stand Up Guys" (2013)- Review

Image
Three terrific actors. One low-budgeted flop. That seems to be the only and BEST way to describe the movie. Pacino still has his fire and kick and can capture a screen even in a messed up film like this one. I have got to give him that! He is one of the best and well-known actors that is still around. To see him still talking about sex, killing, gangsters, etc. that is a persona that I assume he never wants to give up no matter how old he gets-he still loves the tough roles. Lol! People just assumed that because he, Arkin, and Walken were in it that it was going to be a huge success....even the best Oscar-winning actors make flops. It is unfortunate, but it is a part of life. The three actors did do a great job in my opinion, but the movie as a whole just seemed like a reunion for these three with no real meaning or point to the plot of the movie itself. If I had a chance to see this for free or at a screening or even to pay at matinee price, I would have done that because I was not i…

"Bullet to the Head" (2013)- Review

Image
I was very excited for this film because of so many factors, one of which was that I had great camera time and it made the final cut! I was a CSI and I was shown for about 20-25 seconds! I was so speechless that I had no idea what to do. I was thinking that this film would be like Tarantino: A bloodbath film. It had just the right amount of action, the perfect amount of blood and not going all wild and free with the gory imagery. I felt that it was just perfect. Stallone cracked some jokes about the cop that was assisting him help solve a case. It had all the elements to be a great success. I don't care what any other critics say. I loved the film. It gave a great tour of my state: New Orleans. Kang really was funny in certain scenes. They showed an ending part when the movie first began to make you understand the ending. I do not particularly like movie that do that, but I feel that they have a point in trying to do something different in today's filming industry. I feel that…
