"Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor" (2013)- Review

Image
I think that Bell & Jones gave absolutely stunning & phenomenally flawless performances in the movie. They really bought their perspective characters come to life on the screen. When they say "get into character" on set....these two got it! Kardashian was an awful actress as the critics said. She was stiff as a board-she had NO movements at all with her character! She looked like a robot and would not blink at all like she was reading her lines from a teleprompter! One thing was true about her character; Judith's wardrobe. Lol! Her flippant remarks/demeanor was funny & that is all. Overall, the movie was great and powerful. It had some predictable shocks, but how it was told was good and how it ended was remarkable. It serves a valuable lesson: Never ever ASSUME the grass is greener on the other side b/c you never really know someone no matter how long you THINK you know them! Re-read my statement again and think about the film and you will catch on.

"GI Joe 2" in IMAX 3D (2013)- Review

Image
Definitely better than the first! Had to say that first off. I've seen a lot of IMAX 3D movies and to say this one was converted..it was awesome! There were a lot of 3D effects with the swords and fighting mostly but at certain times--it would happen so rapidly and it was coming my way; which is the whole purpose of 3D that I had to flinch a few times. Haha! Truly that realistic for me. My most best part of the film was the introduction to Colton's weapon supply in his home. That made me laugh-a lot! Don't get me started on what happened with Duke....and it was a movie...if that happened to Chan in real life....NO COMMENT! The Rock was super-badass! He can dominate a violent and tough alpha-male role & never disappoint (i.e. Snitch, Fast/Furious, etc.) I rather enjoyed the film. IMAX made it better and the 3D did NOT disappoint me. Jinx & Storm Shadow were the only ones whom I feel are Badass Butchers butchering to pieces who or whatever comes there way! Yo Joe!

"Admission" (2013)- Review

Image
The movie was not as funny and upbeat as I expected it to be. Paul Rudd was not really funny with his words, but more so with his actions and facial expressions. This movie really gives a lot of behind-the scenes insight on the admissions process and all that it involves. I really wish we would have found out the identity of Fey’s mystery son, though! I was very impressed with how it kept my attention even though I was not laughing my eyes out as I wanted to. There were certain portions of the film where it was kind of emotional for me simply because of how Fey had to read all of the candidates’ personal statements and give her recommendation for admittance. The way that the admissions team accepted and rejected the candidates at the end of the movie was funny to me. Lol! There really isn't much more I can say about the movie. The actress who portrayed Fey’s mother was funny-not hilarious, but plain funny if that makes sense to you. It was really original and nothing out of the or…

"Olympus Has Fallen" (2013)- Review

Image
I enjoyed the film, but it was very INTENSE and REAL! All I kept thinking about was 9/11 AND Independence Day (the movie) because of the events that were being displayed right in front of me! When the missiles were being fired, I was just in awe at the brutal attacks that were happening and all the innocent people dying and how the White House and all the monuments were just falling to the ground, how the brave and loyal men and women were fighting to save both themselves and the President of the United States of America. This film should have come out on the 4th of July because it was set in such a patriotic way, you just cannot help but to thank that. Morgan Freeman played an excellent role and he was comical in a scene or two. Gerard Butler was funny throughout the film but in a serious kind of a way if that makes sense. The scene with Ashley Judd and the horrible snowstorm catches you off guard and that was a good thing because you did not know when the climax of the film was goin…

"Stoker" (2013)- Review

Image
A spooky, dark, & twisted movie where you have to use your imagination! I loved the opening credits and the introduction of India and how it played out at the close of the film. Some scenes were very "interactive" I felt just like the opening credits. That was a good job! I want to say that my anticipation was rising for something earth-shattering or unpredictable to happen, but it never came. There was one thing that was spooky to me and it was what India allowed between her legs. All the cast members were behaving like zombies to me because they barely spoke, walked upright and looked pale. Every limited release film I see...it always seems the same in the sense of how I view the overall film: just as average-nothing more; nothing less. Kidman's final speech and final scene were flawless as usual in all of her work. She puts the "a" in acting; the "n" for Nicole & the "d" for DAMN Dynamite Performance!

"The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" (2013)- Review

Image
I was expecting a bit more than what I saw. Sadly enough, I MUST agree with the rating that the movie critics were giving this film; which were negative. This movie was not incredible-it was purely average. There were parts that were funny from Carrey & Carrell's characters, but I had to chuckle and make looks of being in awe rather than laughing out loud out of my seat. Although the ENTIRE time I was watching the movie I felt as if I was in the ACTUAL audience or at least dream of being there. Magic does excite and fascinate me as all of the characters were saying during the film! Wilde really did a great job towards the end of the movie and even though this was a comedy-there was a great lesson portrayed : if you have a magical friendship-it will last forever and the two friends will always find a way to come back to each other if they are true friends. The acts that Jim Carrey were performing made me just cringe and I agree with what Carrell's character says about it-th…

"The Call" (2013)- Review

Image
BEFORE I start this rating, I just have to say that I would NEVER want to be a 911 Operator! I already knew I would never want a job like that because I am too emotional and to have to deal with CONSTANT crises like Halle Berry did and seeing how it actually is firsthand,-NO WAY! How could you NOT become emotionally-involved in that line of work? The Rating: I was in my seat and then transitioned to the “edge of my seat” as the movie progressed. Even though the events that were happening in the film were atrocious and painful to watch, I did not want the film to end because it was just that amazing, to me! Berry’s reaction to Leah’s situation after the call got disconnected was great. But I felt like she could have put a little bit more in it to make it like—Wooooowww! She really did play the part of a concerned operator! She did it beautifully as if it was really happening to her. I felt in the moment in certain scenes because of the nasty and crude situations that were presented in …

"Dead Man Down" (2013)- Review

Image
Now that I have seen this movie-I don't want to rate it. You know how it feels to have a good idea, to brainstorm it on paper & talk about it but never put it into action? That is how I can sum up this movie! Maybe the idea of it was good like the plot, the actors, & script...but the finished product was a disgusting and dead movie. Dead Man DOWN, OUT, & NEVER to be rescued! I was wide awake for the previews, but once the film started-I was drifting off to bed! When I heard gun shots & profanity-that was my trigger to awaken! So serious!!! Terrence Howard did a great job, but why was Repace there? Farrell did good, but Repace was like...getting on my nerves. She was not good at all to me! Keep your money and be alive-not dead like this movie! Please!

"Oz: The Great & Powerful" in IMAX 3D (2013)- Review

Image
Absolutely magical & enchanting! The 3D is just phenomenal! There was not much 3D, but the parts that were-they were sensationally done! There is so much I want to praise about this movie that I don't know where to begin. It felt as if this was a 2013 prequel to the original in the sense that the characters were talking and using up-to-date words and slang's to say this took place in Kansas in 1905. Lol! There were certain scenes throughout the film that made me flash back to The Wizard of Oz. The movie brings out your inner-kid and fairy tales. It was like seeing the classic film on the Big Screen to be honest. Kunis and Franco had intense on-screen chemistry when they first met in the film. I could feel it. The little glass girl and the flying monkey were the "little major characters" because they really made me laugh at their facial expressions and the things they did even though it was voice-animated. The opening credits were simply genius!!! I loved how the …
