"The Big Wedding" (2013)- Review

Image
Sweet...but a little corny. I have to admit "corny." There was not a lot of promotion for the film for one & secondly, just because it was an all-star cast doesn't mean it was going to be all-star! Truth be told, I rather enjoyed the film. They had one or two shocks in the story line but they weren't real shocking! Heigl, Grace & DeNiro really played extremely hysterical roles and they had me laughing. The remainder of the cast was average. The introduction to the story matched the ending & I thought that was cute. This is a date night film in my opinion. I can't really say I loved it but I can say I enjoyed it a hell of a lot! It had a lot of laughs and it was very entertaining, but I just expected so much more....

"Pain & Gain" (2013)- Review

It still seems surreal to me-this movie; because, it was based on a TRUE STORY while this movie was funny for the entire 2 hrs. & 15 minutes! I felt like I watching a more adult version of Scary Movie except that Mackie, The Rock, & Wahlberg did not do anything "childish & stupid" but what they did do was wrong but as the story unraveled, certain situations were funny. That is what makes this film more funny than serious! True story movies may have a serious message to relay with MINIMAL laughter. But I was laughing at like 10-15 minute intervals in this one. The Rock and Wahlberg got the on-screen chemistry rockin'! Mackie? He did not place enough emphasis into his role for me. He was funny...but it was not the type of funny I had expected. Rebel Wilson was perfect-as always. She had a small role but she shined in every small scene that she was in! When the film first came on I felt like I was watching the preview for it! Hated that! It flashes back and fou…

"Trance" (2013)- Review

I am @ a loss for words for how to rate the movie. It was far far far away from predictable-which I enjoy. The story line was amazing and so was the introduction leading up to the Opening Credits. Dawson was fierce, direct, & flawless in her role. She was very captivating-as usual. I mean she got into character for this film. She should be nominated for her work in this film. I could not keep up with the film. Bits & pieces of the past and the future & the present were juggled up and being shown for the entire film. Naturally, at the close of the film, it all came together and made sense. You need to be in a trance to understand TRANCE. A psychiatrist and a Valium should be a start to understanding it until its explained to you. Lol! I'm surprised I am not crazy while writing this review!!! If you see it...pay CLOSE attention. It is mysterious, backwards, & elusive....Good Luck!

"42" (2013)- Review

I think that the film was very inspirational, moving, deep, and most importantly what Jackie Robinson was: R-E-A-L. There was NOTHING fake about #42 and he never pretended to be something that he was not even though one person in particular asked him to let things roll off his back. He did it, but it was hard to him but he had nothing to prove to anyone-NOT even his own wife. Robinson and his wife had a connection that was so deep tat if they were apart they were still together. They had the type of love and bond that could not be severed, I feel. YOU can feel it to if you watch how he interacts with his wife in the film. Harrison Ford really captured the screen with his role. He was funny, but yet, at the same time he was caring and blunt no matter what obstacles came his way....He was as real as Jackie himself. It was hard for me seeing certain parts of the film where the "n" word was said and how segregation existed. Even though there is no more segregation in today'…

"The Place Beyond The Pines" (2013)- Review

I just feel really, really, really numb to this movie. Even though the plot to this movie seemed very sweet and noble-I just cannot say without a doubt that this movie had an profound effect on me. I mean this was a movie that was mainly about a father wanting to be a part of his son's life, but he just went about doing it in the wrong way and the film was very predictable with the two children coming together was very predictable to me! Gosling really played his role Ok even though I did not like how his character turned out. Mendes NEEDS to learn how to do something with her hair for one thing! Every movie that she is in, her hair looks a wreck! This movie was dull and original. I am so so so so glad that I had the opportunity to see it at a screening rather than pay to see it because if I had paid then I would have demanded a refund or a pass to see a different film! NO wonder this film was on a limited release. There is nothing more that I can add to this rating. The concept a…

"Scary Movie 5" (2013)- Review

Image
It was...mildly NOT highly entertaining! This was NOT funny as the first two with The Wayans involvement. All the films that they made fun of was great to see; concept-wise. Tinsdale & Rex tried to do a great job at being funny but failed at it even though what they did was funny-it just wasn't the funny that I was expecting! The ending was horrible & just....blah! If I had gotten the chance to see this at a free screening or a matinee.....that would have been better! I did NOT laugh one single time! I just opened my mouth in awe because I was shocked and chuckled a bit because something was a tiny bit funny to me. In short, do not expect too much from this one-they would've stopped at 4. I did not even believe they were making a 5 when people told me about it. I was not optimistic about then and seems I was right not to.

"Evil Dead" (2013)- Review

The movie reminded me DRAG ME TO HELL simply because of the opening and the ending of this particular movie. The opening was great and the ending to this movie was even greater but the middle and really, THE MOVIE was NOT a movie & I was not impressed nor freaked out. Sure they had some gory and even sick and twisted parts which was yucky to me and not SCARY and bone-chilling as the previews led me to believe. The last hour of the movie was were most of the film came to life; for me. The ending made sense to me simply because the brother was never there for his sister, Mia & his last act of selflessness made a part of him be with her forever. He made years of avoidance up to her in just ONE selfless act and that is the moral of that part of the relationship even though this was classified as a horror film. The movie did not make me cringe or had me on the edge of my seat, but I was often saying to myself that I hope something exciting hurries up and happens because was drifti…
