"Getaway" (2013)- Review

Image
Another terrible senseless tragedy is how to rate this movie. Gomez is NOT an actress! Her acting stinks in this movie! There are other actresses whether they are young or older who could play her role better than she did. In fact, Abigail Breslin could have done better! The movie was fast & action-packed from beginning to end and was suspenseful but the elements to make it good was there but something was weak: the actors and the weak emphasis they placed onto their characters is what made the film a flop...in my eyes. It kept my attention but it didn't have the umph that I was looking for. The introduction to the film was perfect and the ending came together beautifully. It was the entire middle that need to spruced up. Voight said to Hawke, "I can bring out your full potential to make you believe in yourself." That is what I want to tell the Director of this film-"I know you can do better now GO!"

"You're Next" (2013)- Review

Hmmm...what can I say about this movie? It certainly depicts what the horror genre is known for: blood, gore, & intense imagery. This movie had all these important elements, but it was not top-notch blood, intensity, & suspenseful. The opening to the film was great-it was on the right track-but something happened went downhill. The horror was not horrifying to me. I give the cast an A for effort. It had the potential to be a great movie but it was like all horror films-pretty predictable. One or two parts did make me jump but others were totally obvious as to what was going to happen. The main actress, Sharni Vinson really outdid herself with her character. She was a total badass & she slashed and killed and protected herself and everyone that she could. I feel like the villains of the film were divulged too soon & once you find out why the masked killers were killing you will be surprised. There is a shocker at the end. Like I said, the film was good and it had all th…

"Paranoia" (2013)- Review

Image
I think this film had the potential to be a success but for a movie that was mainly centered on corporate espionage--more experienced actors should have been cast besides Ford, McMahon, & the supporting cast. Hemsworth & Heard had great on-screen chemistry, but this film was not right for them. This was a high-class film and there should have been a high-class main cast. Liam played the role very well, but he was not convincing enough for me and Amber was sweet, young, & innocent. A more experienced actress could have portrayed and reacted in a more convincing way than she did. Like I said, they both were good-just not good enough. I love Liam & Amber and the film was enjoyable & predictable, but I still enjoyed watching it! I can see where the term "change the game" helped promote the film and about 40 minutes in you can CLEARLY understand why it is called paranoia. The introduction was perfect and set the tone for the story to unravel as did the end. Th…

"The Butler" (2013)- Review

Image
Intense film. There were some real deep deep feelings associated with this movie. When Directors choose to make films about such topics as exhibited in this movie it tends to stir up conflict in some sort of way with audiences and other celebrities, I feel. To see African Americans & Caucasians divided; fights; racism; The KKK; terminology used to define people; etc. I feel numb, really. A part of me is glad movies are being made like this to depict how this type of behavior still exists in society. May not be as severe as in the '60s & so on & another part of me feels pain because I would not want people to get any ideas from such films. I hate to see what was going on before I was born. Segregation and spitting in people's faces, etc. That is hard for me to see in a movie, just imagine how you would feel to see it in real life? I would not wish it on anyone, anywhere. I appreciate the film and I think Oprah & Forest did a phenomenal job! The entire cast did w…

"Lovelace" (2013)- Review

Image
The truth does go deep in this movie. This is a TRUE STORY of an ex-porn star and the hardships and trials she faced & how she took control of her life and her abusive husband. I, honestly cannot stand movies like this simply because it is sad to see a woman getting beaten & treated like garbage. In another since...it can be positive thing because the films based on actual events, the books and all the tools that these women use to gain control back of their lives and find solace can help other women going through similar problems. Any film that is based on true events has the same message to relay: to bring change & to impact some one's life for the better. Even though I know absolutely nothing about the porn industry-I know that biographies of people's lives are being told because they have reached a point in their lives where they are ready to really expose intimate details of their lives with people to affect them in a positive way. Lovelace did affect me becau…

"We're The Millers" (2013)- Review

Image
I wanna go chasin' Da Millers' weedy waterfalls but they RV'n too fast! Lmao! I LOVED every smuggling minute of it! The movie was HIGHLY ENTERTAINING! I was laughing out of my seat as I expected to be but I was still laughing nonetheless! Jen & Jason definitely have the chemistry! There was one scene where I was too weak laughing & it was the kissing scene! Too wild! Jennifer really did a great job portraying a stripper with the moves that she was working. Stay for the ending credits...the ending scene with the Millers' was appropriate and it closed the film very "family-oriented."

"Elysium" IMAX (2013)- Review

Image
I will say that Elysium made a very clear distinction between life on Earth & life on Elysium. I was really skeptical at first to even see the movie because the last few Sci-Fi films have been dead flops & I walked out on Damon's last Sci-Fi film called Green Zone. He made it up to me-so up to me with this one. This is my NEW favorite film since Terminator. Yes! I kid you not! Matt Damon was good-but Jodie Foster was better. Much better. Her scenes were short & the focus was placed on Damon's character but Foster captured the screen for EVERY single second for EVERY single time she had a part in the movie. I will say Damon was bad but Foster was a "badder badass!" She placed emphasis with her acting and she really got into the "controlling; strong-willed and independent woman" character. I saw it in IMAX & it was loud, believable & AMAZING!

"2 Guns" (2013)- Review

Image
There was a great bit of laughter & action-more laughter than anything else esp. from Mark Wahlberg in the movie, but both him and Denzel DELIVER "A GREAT AND HIGHLY ENTERTAINING" Summer film! This Dynamic Cowboy Duo really take the screen by storm. When Washington said "make it rain," they both blew this movie out of the water. It was action-packed, had a lot of twists, a tad of mystery and some betrayal. All the the right combination of elements to make it a huge success! Patton was simply remarkable and a bad-ass DEA Agent! I wanted to work with her in the film. Lol! She is really very talented and a master at acting! I have never in my life besides in RED 1 AND RED 2 see a woman kick some ass like Paula did in this film. There was NEVER a dull moment in this film. The reactions from the audience were NOTHING but good: a lot of laughs and great comments about t he performances of the entire cast. They all loved Mark's "wink" scenes and Denzel i…
