"The Purge 2: Anarchy" (2014)- Review

The sequel to this film was a tad more gruesome; not hardcore- but bloodier and and vile than that of the first film. There were a few actors in this film that were in the first and it was good to see their return. The main actor of the film was Frank Grillo and he played a badass tough guy role from beginning to end. The masks were the creepy and chilling part of the movie to me. That was disturbing. I just love how in horror films they get a close up shot of a character and then- boom, someone or something slashes or shoots them just unexpectedly leaving the audience in total awe. Being predictable is a bad thing, but being unpredictable is always a definite good thing in horror films. That is what this film had. You never saw certain things coming. You would think one thing and then the total opposite of what you thought would happen, didn’t. I loved that! It would be crazy to think if a purge actually existed in today’s world. I would be so scared out of my mind. You’ve got to admit that screenwriters came up with a new concept writing a movie about this- The Purge. It’s definitely different. Some of the loud bangs and explosions made me jump. I like being on edge like that but in a movie theater, a person can actually do something to scare you while you are engrossed in the movie and scare the skin right off of you. So glad that has never happened to me, personally. The movie had a lot of suspense in it & it was very enjoyable to watch. I feel that the cast did a great job esp. Carmen Ejogo and “Rambo” Frank Grillo. There will be another Purge……
