"Nightcrawler" (2014)- Review

Image
Gyllenhaal was a night crawler in every sense of the word. He really played his character to the fullest that he could possibly play him. His role got on my nerves a bit when he was always talking like a robot quoting textbook lines and business lingo along with statistics. That is what really made his character shine to me, by doing those little nerve-racking things. I was thinking as the movie was going on that he should be nominated for an Oscar for his role in the film because he really captured two things in the film- his stories and he captured me. I was captivated by his performance. He was NOT the predictable type character. The movie was not a horror movie, but I could see why the release date was on Halloween- the imagery & what he did and what he and the audience had to see was frightening but not frightening like seeing a true horror film such as Child's Play or Freddy Kruger. Aiming to have a different spin on scary is a good thing and this film provided that. The…

"John Wick" (2014)- Review

Never a dull moment. I felt so alive and full of life as I was watching this film and getting into it too. It started off where it showed the ending first and then the ending came up and then the film continues up until the very end. I do not like films like that at all- no matter how great the acting or the film is itself. This film reminded me of any and every badass action film where the violence and killing was so gory and brutal, it just seemed so real. Some of the things that Reeves did in the film to the bad guys and how he was trying to medicate himself made me gag. He was killing people left and right and shooting them in the head up close and personal; brains were splattering all over the place. It was intense and gruesome to watch but still a damn dynamite movie-I am not gonna lie to you! I will buy this when it hits shelves on BluRay! The scene where the dog is introduced is so cute and adorable! You have to see it to believe it! There is absolutely NOTHING that I can say …

"Ouija" (2014)- Review

Image
The movie was entertaining…and by that I mean I thought it was funny how this movie had all and I do mean ALL of the little sounds and on the edge of your seat anxiety scenes where you did not know what was going to happen next, but if you had to guess, you guess would have been right on the money. Ouija was not a predictable or unpredictable movie- some parts were predictable where other parts had you guessing. From the way that it ended, there will be a sequel. I thought that the way the Ouija board kept on appearing was the funniest thing ever in the entire film because the audience could NOT get over talking about it and really reacting to it resurfacing like Michael Myers in all the Halloween movies! Lol! In short, this movie was enjoyable & it is always good to see people get scared in a horror film that is not scary or has minimal horror in it! The cast of young actors did an average job, but the main character, Lainie really did a good job at looking scared, skeptical, an…

"The Judge" (2014)- Review

Image
I was HIGHLY impressed at how spectacular and heart-touching this film was. Downey Jr. did an outstanding job and so did Duvall! They worked perfect together and had on-screen chemistry. The way that the film ended had to end the way that it did, but anyone could grasp the message in the last scene with Hank and The Judge. I appreciated and respected what transpired between father and son. There were some humorous scene in the film, of course by Downey Jr. He loves to tell jokes and has a great sense of humor so why not let it show in his character on the big screen. Even though, this was a serious movie, adding a touch of humor can make the film stand out even more! I loved this movie and it should get nominations at The Oscars next year! Farmiga had a small part in the film, but she did a great job in the scenes with Downey Jr. She added her own special touch of spice to the movie in keeping it alive and fresh- she had a realistic touch that she brought to the film and to Downey'…

"Addicted" (2014)- Review

Image
Sharon Leal & William Levy tore up each other & the screen with their performances! How many takes it took for them to nail (no pun intended) their scenes, I wonder? Lol! You could not figure out what was real and what was a fantasy in Zoe’s mind. One minute she is having passionate and steamy sex with a man and then she is dreaming about it and it seems so real to her that it is literally a damn dream! Now that is what you can call “a heated moment” and a passionate imagination! The book was NOTHING compared to seeing it on THEE Big Screen! All of the sex scenes were erotic, sexy, steamy, hot, enticing, seductive- just explosive like fireworks going off on the 4th of July! I loved the opening titles of the film and the credits. It was perfect! The very first sex scene with Boris Kodjoe and Sharon Leal was just- as Flavor Flav would say, “woooooooow!” Lol! I loved the movie and I cannot wait to buy it on BluRay! I want to see it again and again. I can get addicted on Addicted…

"Dracula Untold" (2014)- Review

Image
I could NOT get into this movie at all whatsoever! I know that a sequel will definitely be made from the way that it ended. I do not know what else to say about the movie other than it was not what I had expected at all. The killing was…fast and not illuminating or captivating to me. Luke Evans played a great role, but the movie as a whole was not very enjoyable. It was NOT a Dracula movie that I was use to with all the long white sharp teeth sucking the blood from people’s necks. HaHa! I am so glad that I had the opportunity to see this movie at a free advanced screening. If I had to pay to see it, I would have demanded a refund!

"Annabelle" (2014)- Review

Image
The film was NOT as scary as I thought. There was one part that kept me in suspense because I knew something was going to happen. I just did not know WHEN. Lol! The movie started off just like The Conjuring did and ended the same way. I felt this movie should have been shown first, then The Conjuring and any sequels after that. The doll was similar to Chucky in the Child’s Play movies where a human soul was transferred into the doll, but in this movie, the doll did not talk, walk, or have any action or movement whatsoever. That was what I did not like about the movie. The doll only moved a few times off camera. There were parts of the film that had the creeks, the shakes, the shivers, and the loud screams and creepy music, but I was not scared. It really set the tone for The Conjuring. I feel a sequel will be made or the Annabelle story will continue on through the Conjuring movies.

"The Good Lie" (2014)- Review

Image
It started off very abrasive, but it was bearable to watch. As the movie progressed on, the movie was great even though the conditions they faced were horrific! The actors who were from Kenya and were flown to the US, they really played the parts well- they were totally believable! Examples: they told a joke about why did the chicken cross the road, they did not know what pizza was, the way that they talked about the US and our customs, McDonald’s, how to use straws, and how to use and answer a telephone. Reese Witherspoon gave a stellar performance! When her character was first introduced to us, she was hard and straightforward, but as she got to do research on where the Lost Boys came from and what they faced and was subjected to, her whole attitude changed. She wanted to help in a more in-depth kind of a way instead of the way she told them when they were first introduced to her: all she had to do was to find them jobs and then let them go. That is what I appreciated about her char…

"Gone Girl" (2014)- Review

This movie totally exceeded my expectations! Pike gave an Oscar-worthy performance! She gave such a phenomenal performance-I wanted to clap at the close of the feature presentation! I think that this movie will be nominated at the Oscars next year! It was incredible! I can say that over and over again! Ben Affleck's character was ______ (why spoil it for you?). There was NEVER EVER a dull moment in this film. I loved it from start to finish. The plot of the movie I figured out, but this was a mystery thriller of a killer masterpiece! That is definite! Pike's character was "gone" to me and I mean that she lost her marbles! Lol! She was toxic! This is a movie that I will be buying when it comes out on BluRay- no doubt about it! I do not want to say anything more about it except it is full of suspense, intrigue, sexual references, and explicit material! It will keep you on your toes and most of all, it will keep you guessing and it will NOT be predictable as you may th…
