I will have to admit that I had my doubts about this - I really, really did and then when I could not stop seeing the very unavoidable mixed to negative reviews about it that kept popping up online BEFORE I had my opportunity to see it.
That kept some lingering thoughts that I previously had had coming back and resurfacing, but once I shut my cell off once the film began - I must admit ALL of that was a thing of the past! The movie was excellent! I am not just referring back to the fight sequences either - or the gore that the film had.
The entire film was brutal and in a most fascinating way! Watching the movie brought back so many memories from when I was a child. I mean who would not think back to their childhood and the comic books and the TV Series growing up. This was not a big blockbuster type film that was advertised the way that it should have been but it was sold out at every show time that was available - at least in the Dolby format at the theater where I saw it.
I really would like to go back and see it again, but in 3D. The imagery was so illuminating and alive; vibrant even. I know that any kids or young teens who see this film will appreciate every last second of the film whether it is seen in the theater or in the comforts of their own home on HBOMAX.
The character of Kano, which was played by Josh Lawson was absolutely hilarious as can be! Truthfully, every single actor in the film had comedy in their perspective roles - they were either saying or doing something that made the audience chuckle, smirk, laugh out loud, nod their head in pure amazement, etc.
The film had a combination of action, comedy, and adventure. The main actor, Lewis Tan who portrayed Cole, who was a direct descendant of Scorpion - he played a flawless role. I was really impressed by his performance! I have not seen him in a lot of movies or TV Shows, but he was exceptionally fierce in this film!
The key to each of the warriors unlocking their unique "arcana" was pretty typical because in an adventure film - it seems like you have to get upset/frustrated at someone in order to find out what their "power" is and that is how each of them had to find out what they had inside each of them.
The way that it was brought out in Kano is totally funny! Kano is just funny in the movie, I will not lie! Lol! Lastly, the way that movie ends....you will want to give it a standing ovation........I will leave you with that!
