Would I recommend YOU to pay to see this in the theater? NO! THIS MOVIE SHOULD STILL BE UNDER WATER AND STAY THERE!!!
Film Synopsis: A crew of aquatic researchers (played by Kristen Stewart, Vincent Cassel, Mamoudou Athie, T.J. Miller, John Gallagher, Jr. & Jessica Henwick) work to get to safety after an earthquake devastates their subterranean laboratory. But the crew has more than the ocean seabed to fear!
Classification of Film: Action, Sci-Fi, & Horror
....but they DO NOT deliver on it. I am just disappointed because I was not really that deeply invested in seeing this, but over the last few months no matter what movie I saw, I was always seeing the trailer for this particular movie no matter what I was @ the theater watching!
That always seems to happen to me - movies that I have zero interest in I seem to see over and over again and then I am a sucker and fall for it and see it. Lol! That is what happens with this one. Now, getting into the review of the film now that my little rant is out of the way - even though the movie had some gory imagery because of the unidentifiable creature that they researchers had to fight off in order to survive that does not MAKE the movie. By having that aspect of the film, it would make one stop to realize that the film will be good and non-predictable.
I have never seen Kristen Stewart in such a role in a thriller genre film such as this one. I think that she played a good role in the film and I will not be spoiling anything, but out of the six researchers that the film revolves around, the black researcher does first and I was so angry about that because it really is not a lie, it is a stereotype that if black people are in a horror or thriller film, they will always be the FIRST ones to die! Lol!
The creature looked like a Medusa Head plus a octopus, to me @ least! Again, out of all the 6 researchers only two will survive and the one researcher that you think will survive won't. Who do you think it will be? You may think that you are watching a Godzilla movie while watching this because it is an underwater movie with a water monster or monster type creature.
You may have certain expectations for this film, but it will or will not disappoint you. It will keep your interest, but it might not sustain you. In conclusion, the movie is entertaining and has some disturbing images that prove to keep the movie interesting. Remember that - and good luck!
